Vietnamese Takeaway

Whilst getting my asian supply of groceries at my local asian store these meals were available supplied by a Cabramatta Vietnamese Restaurant Tan Hong Vuong that does takeaway dishes. A lovely salad with green papaya which I haven’t had before.

Foodworks :

Foodworks where I live now do lunch meal deals. I can pick them up for $5.95 or if they have extra stock and need to clear they are in the fridges for $2.50. Very filling and great meals. I often get them now for weekend trips as its a quick reheat in microwave for 2 minutes and baked dinner is done. You get a either a quarter of bbq chicken or pork roast with roasted vegetables and gravy with peas.

Another Meal I get is also $6.95 serves 2 people is chicken enchiladas that you bake in oven. Serve with salad.

Roast pork with roast veg tray at Foodworks $6.99 does 2 serves for me. This was before they started the lunch time specials as above. They also sell the roast vegetables in containers for $2-3. BBQ chicken avail for $7.99 with loyalty card & after every 10th one you then get a free one.

Food works put ready made salads for customers which is a great grab to go meal when on the run. $7.95 normal price but can be reduced to $3.99 when needed to sell them. (See other posts for more salads)

Often I go to Foodworks supermarket and they have roast pork in packets with roast vegetables already cooked. They are a great time saver as they just reheat on a plate in microwave for 2minute on high. I add my own homemade mint sauce and steamed greens that are in season cooked in microwave for 4minutes on high.

Balinese Spice Magic Wollongong

This one has been on my bucket list since they opened. I finally got there last night. for our 27th wedding anniversary dinner.  It was our first time here and I wasn’t disappointed with the authentic Balinese flavours.

This was our first time at the restaurant for our wedding anniversary. We rang to get a table with in half a hour they returned the call and booked us in for half hr time. They are a busy restaurant so it was great to get a table. We tried the tasting platters for 1 serve which they call combination plate for 1 As we decided to share half of each they gave us side plates (*sharing plates) so we could get some of everything. They were really Nice and I personally loved the Vegan one more than the other combo one Staff were friendly, fast to take orders and mains were quick to arrive, the desserts took some time to arrive as they were busy with a party downstairs. The meal was delicious. Then manager topped up our water and was very friendly. We will definitely be back again.

We chose the Campur Tasting Plates one each. (Campur is the Balinese equivalent to a Japanese bento box or tasting plate)

McDonald’s

Recent trip to Katoomba we got McDonalds on the way to and from there. It was the Monopoly Tokens that we got a few off with each item. It was just on change from breakfast to lunch menu. We were able to order off the lunch menu.

Traveling back from Holidays we got McDonalds to end hubby’s birthday weekend as there wasn’t anything else open at the time we were travelling.

Hartley Historic Village Cafe

We did a visit to this historic village and had lunch there. It is situated halfway between Katoomba and Lithgow. Well worth a visit if you love history. You can see all the old houses still standing and the court house and churches.

The café was the old post office and had a range of meals from sandwiches to burgers to full meals and drinks. We ordered and hubby got his cappuccino straight away but the meals didn’t arrive for a further 30minutes. The meals were ok but I have had much better from cafes whilst travelling. Upmarket prices for meals $14-20

Menu we ordered

Cappuccino

Chicken Schnitzel burger salad and chips

Beef Burger and Chips
